The importance of Daily Stand-up for a Scrum Master

The importance of having a daily Scrum cannot be overemphasized. The Daily Scrum or Stand-up meeting is the most important meeting during implementation.

Although the books teaches that the Scrum Master can afford to miss the Daily Scrum, but in reality, your failure as a Scrum Master is imminent if you miss the daily scrum meeting.

Here are few reasons why the Scrum Master should be at the Daily Stand-up:

1. Developers most times have more than one jobs. If you are not in the Stand-up meetings, no one will hold them accountable for their tasks.

2. Issues can go unresolved for weeks just because the Scrum Master is not even aware of it. The Daily stand up is a meeting where issues and dependencies are supposed to be discussed. If you are absent as the Scrum Master, chances are that a whole lot of things will be happen without your knowledge.

3. Lack of leadership. In Scrum, leadership is very important. Everyone must have a sense of responsibility. You are there as the Scrum Master to lead your team as well as serve them. When you find it difficult as a Scrum Master to attend Daily Stand-up, your team might lack the leadership it needs.
